Product Questions:
Yes, FlatJax can be used with larger square legs. When using FlatJax with a square table leg you will want to place the device under the corner of the leg leaving the port tab (where you insert the ball driver) just under the corner to ensure you have access to the port to make adjustments. The FlatJax does not need to be located in the center of the leg to be effective, similar to how a car jack wouldn't need to be placed in the center of your car to lift the car. You can message us to let us know about your square legs so we can send you a diagram with placement specifications via email prior to or post-purchase. We have had a number of customers successfully use these for 6" or 8" square legged tables.
The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) as well as the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) state that the table bed height for both professional and non-professional play be 29 1/4″ minimum to 31″ maximum. Additionally, we have found that if your table is located on carpeting, the FlatJax pool table leveler may sink down into/compress the carpet and pad the entire 1/2 inch that the device is tall due to the weight of the table. Given the acceptable range by the BCA/WPA specifications, we do not expect that the FlatJax Pool Table Levelers would raise the table bed higher than the 31″ maximum. However each table can be different and we would recommend you check the height of your individual table bed to ensure it would still fall within the acceptable range.
Remember this is the playing surface that is specified. If measuring to the top of the rails, that is 1 3/4 inch higher than the playing surface. Which would be 31″ to 32 3/4″ if measuring to the top of the rail.
Depending on the weight and build of your table there are several options.
If you are having a new table installed, have the installers place the device for you. Order about a week prior to your installation date if you are in the Continental U.S. to ensure your items will arrive on time.
However, if your table is already installed, you will need to lift or jack up the table. If you have someone to help you, you can have one or two people lift each end of the table gently and have another person place the device under each leg. We have also had customers use jacks on the ends of the table, placing the jack on the short ends of the table (not the long sides). We never recommending jacking your table from the center or the long sides.
Because we use the 3M brand resilient (non-abrasive) grip tape on the top and bottom of each FlatJax leveling device, we can’t think of anything that would be better at keeping your table from sliding on a smooth floor.
The bottom of the FlatJax Pool Table Leveler (as well as the top of the device), is comprised of highly durable, medium textured, slip resistant synthetic rubber. We do not anticipate that the material would cause any damage or scratches to flooring as long as the surface the pool table leveler is sitting on is clean and free of debris.
Absolutely. FlatJax pool table levelers are designed to lift 300 lbs. each which would be a 1,200 lb. table. That is more than adequate for large tables with thick slate. The 300 lbs. is just a rating for lifting the table, as a lot of leverage is needed to lift 300lbs by twisting your wrist. The holding power of the levelers would be 2 to 3 times that amount. So someone sitting or laying on the table would be no problem at all.
These FlatJax Pool Table Levelers are designed to move 4/1000 of an inch (about the thickness of a piece of printer paper) per full revolution of the ball driver to give you the utmost accuracy and ease of use. So a few turns will not be visually noticeable.
We could have designed FlatJax to move a 32nd or even a 16th of an inch per revolution, so you could see it move, however, it would be very difficult (if not impossible) to turn the ball driver on heavier tables. The levelers are geared very low by design so they have an extreme amount of leverage to lift your heavy table, it would take 16 full revolutions of the ball driver to raise the device 1/16th of an inch (the height at which the height increase is visually noticeable).
Make sure you read the included product inserts before performing this with your device and lower them completely before placing under the table leg for installation.
Good ones! We average a 4.7 star rating on Amazon and have had several more happy customers from our own site.
To date, we have received two negative reviews (with over 620 set of FlatJax sold) and we blame ourselves; we didn't explain clearly enough early on about how the FlatJax are intentionally geared low or why they are "so expensive". We have since tried to add information to our site and product listings to help customers better understand this product and clear this up and have included that information below also, but if you still have questions please let us know.
FlatJax are intentionally geared low (requiring more turns) in order to raise a heavy table and you will not see the device move.

Each leveler is a precision device made of aircraft quality aluminum, milled on specialized $100,000+ 4-axis milling equipment and undergo a labor-intensive assembly and testing process. We took 4+ years to develop and bring this product to market because we knew it had to be perfect.
With FlatJax you can level your pool table on demand without waiting and paying for installers to come to your home, additional shims to arrive, or any additional lifting – you can simply use the included ball driver to raise or lower each device. To be able to lift up to a 1,200 lb. pool table by twisting a ball driver is an engineering feat in itself.
While we understand the price tag may appear to be shocking initially, when you consider the time and money spent to pay someone else to do it or chiropractor bills after you've gone it alone these devices will often pay for themselves.
Additionally, the value of experiencing a true pool table experience free from errors caused by an unlevel table or even avoiding the frustration associated with leveling that can only be as accurate as the thickness of the shims used (vs. precision leveling to thousands of an inch with FlatJax) is surely worth the investment.
You don't have to take our word for it, there are several happy customers reviews posted online and about how happy they are with the investment.

Worm Gears, by design, typically are not back drivable and the FlatJax uses the worm gear set-up. Any type of gearing that has a ratio of 30 to 1 or more also will not be able to be back driven. The FlatJax ratio is approximately 95 to 1 so the FlatJax adjustment is locked solid. The steel ball bearings fit in a groove that is machined with the same size contour as the outside diameter of the bearing. This spreads the contact area over a much larger area than just one point so the FlatJax can actually support 3 times more weight than it is rated to lift. The ability of metal to not deform overtime, unlike plastics, will insure that the balls will never dent the metal.
This indeed was the objective we wanted to ensure was not only possible but done so with nearly zero friction when we set out to create a pool table leveling solution. Through our 4+ years of research & development before bringing this product to market, we were able to achieve just that.
First, it is important to note that a full set of FlatJax is required to lift a 1,200 lb. table so each leveler is not carrying that load on its own. The FlatJax levelers are geared very low to create the leverage necessary to raise & lower this amount of weight (up to 300 lbs. each). The inner workings are rolling ball bearings up precision-machined inclined ramps so turning the 5/32” ball driver (allen wrench type driver) is virtually effortless.
The amount of weight each leveler can then withstand (not lift) would be 2-3 times higher such as when someone sits or leans on the table to make certain types of shots.
The low gearing is also the reason that you will not “see” the leveler move with each turn of the included ball driver as it raises and lowers as the gearing is so low (again, to create the necessary leverage) that each full revolution is equal to 4/1000 of an inch. So, we recommend turning the ball driver approximately sixteen full revolutions to visually see that the device has increased in height.
Painting is not recommended. It is very hard to get paint to adhere to the aluminum. Please let us know if you have any other questions we can help with.
We do offer sets of 4 and 6 currently on our site as we've had several customers request sets of 6 for use with their shuffle board or snooker tables. To order the Set of 6, you will select this option on the order form (order now tab) from the drop down under Set Size. Please let us know if you have a different set size need.
